The Johnson County Health Department reported 2 new COVID-19 cases in the county on Tuesday. Tuesday’s 2 new cases brings Johnson County’s total to 2,014 cases of the virus. Of the 2,014 total cases, 30 are currently active, 1,961 have reportedly recovered and 23 have passed. State Budget Headed To Gov Desk

The state budget is making its way to the governor’s desk. The Kentucky House voted last night to approve the 12-billion-dollar budget after a couple of hours of debate. 396 New COVID-19 Cases in Kentucky on Monday

/ WSIP AM 1490 | CBS Sports Mar 16, 2021 12:33 AM On Monday, Gov. Andy Beshear announced 99.7% of all first vaccine doses sent to Kentucky have been administered after another record-setting week. Over the past week, more than 142,000 Kentuckians have received a COVID-19 vaccine. “We believe that we are going to hit the president’s goal that every adult in Kentucky and across America who wants their shot of hope will be able to get it by the end of May,” said Gov. Beshear. “We’ve had nine straight weeks of declining cases and if we continue to see this trend, we can relax some of the restrictions even more. But we need to be careful and make sure we bring everybody to the finish line.”

Magoffin County Man Arrested for Drug Trafficking after Traffic Stop

/ WSIP AM 1490 | CBS Sports Mar 16, 2021 12:38 AM A Kentucky State Police Trooper conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of KY Route 40 and KY Route 1437 at 11:45 p.m. for a traffic violation.  During the traffic stop, the operator of the vehicle was arrested for operating the motor vehicle under the influence. During a search of the vehicle, troopers located and seized four ounces of suspected methamphetamine, digital scales, drug paraphernalia, and over $8,000 in cash. Jerry Shepherd, 50 of Salyersville, was arrested and lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center on charges of Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine), Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Operating Motor Vehicle under Influence of Controlled Substance 3rd Offense, and several traffic and equipment violations. Trooper Ryan Hale with KSP Post 9 is leading this investigation.
