 Eastern Kentucky has been hit hard by devastating flooding and winter storms. Neighbors throughout Kentucky have stepped up to help. Christian Appalachian Projectâs (CAP) Operation Sharing warehouse has coordinated the delivery of supplies through local emergency management staff, offices of the judge executive, and community nonprofits.
In the past two weeks, Operation Sharing has distributed 20 semi truckloads filled with supplies to assist families impacted by the floods in Clay, Breathitt, Harlan, Perry, Owsley, Wolfe, Lawrence, and Magoffin Counties as well as Wayne County, West Virginia. Additional supplies were sent to Johnson, Floyd, and Powell Counties, with plans to reach Lee, Estill, and Bath Counties this week.
The Johnson County Health Department reported 8 new COVID-19 cases in the county on Tuesday.
Tuesday’s 8 new cases brings Johnson County’s total to 1,993 cases of the virus.
Of the 1,993 total cases, 32 are currently active, 1,938 have reportedly recovered and 23 have passed.

On Tuesday, Gov. Andy Beshear said a record 127,110 Kentuckians were vaccinated during the past week, breaking the previous record of 112,428 vaccinations set the week before.
“We are really ramping up to meet the moment and we are going to achieve this goal the President set of having a vaccine available for any Kentucky adult who wants one by the end of May,” said Gov. Beshear.
The Governor also said the state’s positivity rate has dropped to 3.94%, the lowest rate since Sept. 21.
First Lady Britainy Beshear announced Ford Motor Co. has donated 1 million masks to Kentucky schools, with a commitment to donate an additional 500,000 masks in the coming weeks.
