arizona. so who has the upper hand? let s go out front. and good evening, i m erin burnett. out front tonight, a victory for the rule of law. that s the words from the top two members of the january 6th select committee. after trump s long-time ally steve bannon was found guilty of contempt for refusing to appear before the committee. congressman bennie thompson and congresswoman liz cheney came out with a warning, for anyone else who tries to on strubt or stone wall their investigation, just as there must be accountability for all those responsible for the events of january 6th, anyone who obstructs our investigation into these matters should face consequences. no one is above the law. now bannon, i should note, is the first close aide to trump to be convicted as a result of investigations into the insurrection. he could face months if not a year in jail. after the verdict trump s former chief strategist lashed out at the committee. i only have one disappointment, and that
additional documents or believed there were additional documents being held at mar-a- lago that the fbi wanted to obtain. that s what precipitated and what prompted the activity we saw monday at mar-a-lago, that this informant or this person, this witness was able to tell the fbi there were additional things there they needed to go get, and that s why they did this on monday. are they reported they know who this informant might be if there is one? they don t say who this person may be and how that person would ve come to know that information. the feature of mar-a-lago and trump world come as you know, as there weren t a lot of checks on people coming and going in that circle, so there s many, many people. we have been making calls, and there s a number of people that come to mind when you talk to people about who this could be. the idea, kim, of who could have had access, seen something in some way or been witness to something is really curious. as evan points out, thi
investigators, there were more classified documents beyond what trump turned over to the national archives earlier this year. let s bring in former federal prosecutor michael zeldin. what is your reaction to the reports of an informant here that there was a meeting at mar-a-lago in june, after that meeting someone informed law enforcement that there were more documents that were unsecured? is this a possibility that this informant is from trump s orbit? well, it would make sense that somebody within the trump world, within the mar-a-lago complex, had knowledge of the existence of additional boxes, 12 as we learned, and they decided that it was important to honor the obligations of law enforcement and let them know where these things were and so it went. with all the people coming in and out of mar-a-lago, i mean, you can see why investigators would be concerned if there were documents that would pertain to national security for example. and we know that investigators had
