the reservists. joining us now is the congresswoman from new jersey, a member of the house armed services committee, a former policy office in the navy. always a pleasure to see you. in 2014, russia held a referendum before annexing the territories point of russia. the united states and much of the world saw that and didn t do much about it. what is russia trying to do this time? and what should the world and the united states be doing about it? so thanks so much for having me. certainly russia is once again trying to have a sham referendum. i don t think anyone in the west believes it or puts stock in it. it is certainly not any sort of democratic process. i think what s striking to me right now is after putin s announcement that he was going to conscript 300,000 troops, we finally see a break in what has seemed to be a little pith of a strangle hold on messaging and rooting out dissent in rusia.
creep closer and maybe democrats can t get over the top quite yet? i think that the environmental head winds that democrats are facing right now are significant. at the same time, we are seeing in a number of states, we re seeing some of these republican nominee who is are underperforming in the environment. we re talking about the pennsylvania senate race with mehmet oz. they are not running as strongly as you would expect republicans to be running in those kinds of states given where the national environment is right now. texas is maybe a little pith of a different case. governors races can be a little more up and down. they are not necessarily people voting for a legislator, 1 of 100. so it can be defined by local issues than some of the senate races. at the same time, as you get closer to an election, you tend to see people go towards their existing camps. so i think it is very difficult for democrats to pull through in
right now. you know, we have not raised our prices that much, you know? i just asked our meat buyer this morning, how much has our meat gone up? he said probably about 5% this fourth of july versus last. so there are some bright spots out there, and i think people want to get out and celebrate for the fourth right now. neil: how do they pivot then? how do you recommend they pith? i m just afraid the nation might go individual vegetarian, and that would be awful. [laughter] if how are they moving around the different cuts of meat, the choices where it s gotten pretty pricey? well, neil, you know, you definitely could see that if you re planning on certaining some gourmet burgers it s really easy to go could be to a different burger and some chicken even though chicken s come up a little bit in price this year. so you can alter what you re going to serve.
been hearing all along in this campaign. her name was brought up 20 times during the first debate and she wasn t even on the stalk. we re already getting a preview of what we re going to see looking ahead to november. i want to play a clip of a speech she gave at a fundraiser over the weekend that s get ing a lot of attention from republicans. she says that georgia is the worst state in the country to live before going on to list a number of quality of life issues like maternal mortality and incarceration. here s a little pith of her remarks and then we ll talk on the other side. we are the worst state in the country to live. when you re number 48 for mental health, you re number one for maternal mortality, a an incarceration rate on the rise, then you re not the number one place to live in the united states. but we can get there. reporter: as you can imagine,
and that evolved into a whipped body butter and another shea butter blend that we call oil cream in the shower bomb with the aromatherapy, and we keep it simple and natural and plant-based. we started selling it at small events and churches. but when the pandemic hit, our venue closed, so we had to pith. we decided the gonel online, an people started to seek us out, and we were able to experience a lot of growth, and secure a store front and workspace. it is making me tear up when i look back at this little block of soap, and we developed it into something that people appreciate on their self-care journey. starart small, think big is brought to you by legal zoom. start and protect your small business with legal zoom. let s make it official.
