donald trump on twitter, falsely accusing, by all accounts, the former president of the crime of political wiretapping. and in another, i think, historic first, ended, wound down, with basically the same individuals fact-checking and shooting down live tweeting of this hearing, donald trump. some people welcome it, some find it bold and refreshing but it was clear he was on the losing end at the beginning and end of the hearing by these folks in charge of gathering the facts. let s remind our viewers how it did happen that the fbi and dnc spoke about the hack of john podesta s e-mails. with regard to the way this first arose? it regard to what comey said today. it was an fbi agent calling the i.t. guy over yes, a a lower-level contact after a lot of political noise and a lot of rumor, it was a lower-level contact, basically what we would call a tech or
who is he lecturing for our benefit? school wormy about it to me. i don t know. yes, although, i thought toward the end there, as the debate wound down, and trump was waiting to get off the stage without pulling his stack and robert s right, he kept his cool. some of them were funny. i don t know that it s going to help jeb bush at all. and it s certainly not going to slow down donald trump. so in the end, it was kind of a sad side show, and kind of cota to trump s continuing on on his march. and jeb not really not really
contractors. so, it s perhaps no surprise, sadly, no surprise that there would be some sort of an attack there. the good news, of course, is that it seems that the situation has wound down, the number of casualties still trying to be accounted for. it seems that all of the americans that were there have been accounted for. okay. reporter: but again, because of the continued terrorism activity in that part of the world and with the president out here on the road, a lot of attention, a lot of concern about what s happening there. tamron, back to you. and we re just getting information that the u.s. provided airlift support and aerial recon there, and at least six u.s. citizens rescued in mali. this is some of the new information that s coming in to us regarding u.s. personnel were assisting outside the hotel. our own jim miklaszewski, ron, provided details that these were special ops who were just assisting outside the hotel to clear out some of the individuals who were fleeing for
pings, two fadeout pings. this is the area where immarcet said, this is where you need to look. this is the spot where the last partial handshake occurred. and, yeah, absolutely. we didn t expect to sort of go down and find it mission one. and we re only four days in. there is, on the ground, a high level of confidence that this is the right spot. and at the same time, while we thought the air search would be wound down, it s proceeding at the same level, 13, 14 aeroplanes going out today. so this area that they ve searched about almost 2 1/2 weeks ago, they ve gone back out there over the last few days and they re continuing to do so. so there s a you know, there s strong optimism that they re going to find something. and how do they explain the frequency, when those pings were detected, especially that two-hour ping from the black box, which is really orange, as
civilian casualties have long been a sore point between the international community and the afghan government and while the taliban kills far more civilians in this country, the international community has always been held to account when civilians have been killed at the as a result of u.s. and international operations. so, the taliban don t take much of the blame for the deaths here, civilians in afghanistan. in the way that the international community does. but, there is a real sense among many afghans that while they want the u.s. and international community to be more protective of civilians, they do know that the taliban kills a lot of civilians and we should point out the taliban are saying they didn t cukill the mullah today, but they said they d target people of the high peace council. jamie: as things are expected to be wound down, as the president said for u.s. troops, the violence continues, be safe, connor, for us, thank you so much. reporter: thank you.
