Wotton Rovers special tribute in memory of Jordan Banks

A TOUCHING tribute was held by Wotton Rovers Football Club, paying respects to a member of the “football family” who tragically died last week. Jordan Banks of Blackpool was tragically killed when he was struck by lightning on a football field on May 11. The Liverpool FC fan’s sudden death has touched many involved in football across the country. Wotton Rovers held a special tribute to the young footballer, showing support to his family at their match on Saturday. Wotton Rovers’ first team, and Saturday’s opponents Painswick, team held a minute’s silence for their fellow football family member on the pitch at Synwell, prior to the match.

Wotton Rovers to pay tribute to nine-year-old Jordan Banks

The nine-year-old was struck while playing his beloved football on Tuesday night. He was rushed to hospital but sadly couldn t be saved and died shortly after. A spokesman for Wotton Rovers said: After the recent death of nine year old Jordan Banks, Wotton Rovers will be paying tribute to this brave little boy whose life was tragically cut short while doing what he loved most, playing football. On Saturday, Wotton Rovers first team will be playing against Painswick, at Synwell with a 3pm kick off . A minute silence will be held prior to the game and the number 7 shirt will remain hung in the changing room as a tribute to Jordan s memory.
