Worthington Kilbourne student starts petition to restore school resource officers
Kilbourne senior Luke Brown started the change.org petition addressed to the school board, Superintendent Trent Bowers and Kilbourne principal Aric Thomas with the hopes that the reinstatement of the SRO program will be considered.
The petition had 186 signatures as of July 6, with a goal of hitting 200. Brown said those signatures consist of mostly Kilbourne and Thomas Worthington High School students.
“The removal of our SROs had no just-basis and was fueled by the negative image surrounding police during these times,” the petition reads.” As a senior in the Worthington School District, I have seen first hand the result of SROs being removed.”

Clintonville resident Ben Klinger said he rode his Specialized Allez Sport bicycle to work at Lucky’s Market at 2770 N. High St. in Columbus one day in January 2020 as usual, locked it up outside and went indoors.
When he got off work at 11 p.m., he said, his lock had been cut and the bike was gone.
“I was so confused and frustrated,” he said. “I didn’t really know how to feel; it took a while to process everything.”
Klinger said the next day, he filed a report with the Columbus Division of Police and posted information about his bike, which he suspected was stolen, on the Bike Snoop Facebook group.
