are treated they storm on the memorial and take the wake house. take the white house. what does it take to open up barricades like this if you can t reach a political solution? one group of veterans figured out how simple the process will be. take a look at what they did. it was called the million veteran march. numbers were short of that. but they removed the barriers outside of the world war ii memorial which is one of several open air member yams the government choose to close down. this is for our honored war vets. we are not going to stand by and let it happen. who do they blame? some of them walked the barricades over pennsylvania avenue where they were deposited right outside of the white house. they were closed some say for political reasons.
their day here at the world war ii memorial are up 17th street outside the white house. they are basically making everyone in dc who willisen or who is just will listen or just passing by know how upset they are how veterans have been treated during the government shutdown. everything started out this morning. predawn the crowd was gathering. before the speeches and the chants and the songs started this morning we did see the organizers lead a charge tearing down, breaking apart and then taking down the metal barricades that surrounded the entire world war ii memorial. they then laid them in a heap over on a grassy area just to the side of the memorial and that allowed several hundred people to go into the world war ii memorial which is technically closed. the police did not the police were not really having a huge presence here this morning. they let everybody right in. we saw in the distance a similar scene on the steps of the lincoln memorial this
paying this, are you sure? yes, on the death which is a horrible name, but you cannot get around the fact that they need to get to dover to see their loved ones coming back. the president said he didn t know about this and they re rectifying this. i really don t think it was a deliberate act. charles. i think there are two reasons here. one is was it a political act? i tend to think that some of these interpretations, clearly, people seem to be always erring on the side of being rough and tough and irrational like the cordoning off of the world war ii memorial which is open-air and where it takes more park rangers to cordon it off than it would to accompany the ageing veterans on to the site. i think there s and we saw it in the sequestration. this isn t the first time. the administration is using anything it doesn t like as a way to punish the american
in the end, fred, the house combined these things together so that is a change of plan, but one house republican aide firing back at the speaker there saying that harry reid doesn t, the speaker doesn t ask harry reid s permission about what house republicans will do. we had a plan, it changed, and senator reid can deal with it but the bottom line is there are divisions among house republicans, democrats, and certainly the white house are very happy to exploit those, fred. all right, it just gets messier and messier, doesn t it, brianna. thank you so much. appreciate that, from the white house. so for one lawmaker, anger over the shutdown is moving from capitol hill now to the world war ii memorial which has been closed since the standoff began. here s what happened when congressman randy naugebauer faced off with one of the park rangers. how do you look at them and deny them access. it s difficult. it should be difficult.
