World Ev Day: India has the unique opportunity to present itself as a global leader in the manufacturing of electric vehicles and their parts. For this there has to be a resilient EV supply chain which involves sourcing of raw materials, processing and refining them, production processes including manufacturing lines, and recycling and circularity.
Anand Mahindra shared a picture of the companys first electric vehicle produced in 1999 along with the story of the EV via his social media account while saying it was way ahead of its time.
Chandigarh has taken the lead among Punjab and Haryana in terms of electric vehicle (EV) penetration, specifically in the three-wheeler category. While Ladakh has the highest EV penetration in this category at 100%, Chandigarh follows closely at 95.58%.
World EV Day: Steering the EV industry to self-reliance would need a multidimensional approach that can, address several complex challenges. The current EV ecosystem also has to transform. Committed action from the private sector and enabling policies from the Government are essential to drive this transformation. To mature the sector to the next level, focus should be on ecosystem development. This essentially includes developing R&D and innovation capabilities which should also lead to technology and knowledge sharing from global organizations. However, a self-reliant EV sector would be an outcome of a complete ecosystem transformation while proving to be beneficial for various allied sectors and the economy at large.
