The second World Corporate Chess Championship will consist of a series of online events that will conclude with an over-the-board final in New York in June. The event is open to teams representing legally recognized companies from all around the world. Every team has a right to include one invited player who is not directly employed at the company or is a member of the board.
The results of a unique chess tournament – the FIDE Online World Corporate Chess Championship, held for the first time in chess history, have been announced. The tournament brought together 288 companies from 78 countries, representing the leading sectors of the global economy. The strongest corporate chess team was the team of Grenke Bank, part of the Grenke Group - one of the leading players in the finance sector. A wine-and-chess set Chateau La Grace Dieu des Prieurs, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, ‘Art Russe Collection 2014’ has become a special prize for the winner of the Championship.
The special prize was established at the initiative of Andrei Filatov, the owner of Chateau La Grace Dieu des Prieurs and the President of the Russian Chess Federation. Six bottles of the unique wine from Saint-Emilion, with Russian art on the labels, contained in a special-edition chess box with a set of chess pieces and a chessboard lid, will be shipped to Germany.

The winners of the FIDE Online World Corporate Chess Championship – the Grenke Bank team – have been gifted a bespoke wine and chess set from Chateau La Grace Dieu des Prieurs in Bordeaux.

The tournament brought together 1,500 chess players representing 288 companies from 78 countries across the leading sectors of the global economy, including energy, banking, tech, e-commerce and electronics.
Among the companies taking part were: Amazon, Samsung, Ford, Microsoft, Facebook, Siemens, Dell, Airbus, IBM, Boeing, Sony, Twitter, Goldman Sachs Morgan Stanley, Vodafone, American Express, Deutsche Bank, UBS, Credit Suisse and Airbnb, who fought for the title of the world’s best corporate chess team.

Grenke Bank, led by Georg Meier, overcame Ian Nepomniachtchi’s SBER on Sunday to win the
1st FIDE Online World Corporate Chess Championship. 288 teams had been whittled
down to just eight before the final day, and in the end the top two seeded
teams made it to the final. 2nd seeds Grenke, one of just two teams to feature three female players, then pulled off an upset win.

Wesley So Wins Opera Euro Rapid As Team Hikaru Raises $361,000 For CARE
GM Wesley So repeated his success at the Skilling Open as he defeated Magnus Carlsen in Sunday s final of the Opera Euro Rapid tournament. GM Teimour Radjabov swiftly placed third as he won both games against GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave.
During the Champions Chess Tour, Team Hikaru has set a goal of raising $3,000,000 for CARE (Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere) through the commentary on GM Hikaru Nakamura s Twitch channel. In January, they raised $358,000 in conjunction with the Airthings Masters. For the Opera Euro Rapid, they raised even more, a total of $361,000, which brings the total raised to over $720,000. With seven events remaining, $3,000,000 and beyond is looking like a very achievable goal for Team Hikaru.
