And his new book, the odyssey of echo company which is about a subject thats been part of my life as well, the vietnam war. So im delighted to have a conversation about that and also about writing tonight. So doug, why dont we start, just sort of with how this idea sort of washed over you in the first place, for this book. Thank you for the nice introduction. The idea for the the odyssey of echo company came to me in afghanistan, which would have been our most recent foray into counterinsurgency in the 21st century with vietnam obviously in thevi 20th. He was a Brilliant Writer and author and a fellow midwesterner to request lake michigan. Which if any of you that do not know, was the premier for the event in america. When they bring in people like atwood and people like me once in a while. [laughter] he has written several wonderful books, in harms way.
