SAN MARCOS
As deputies continue to investigate the hit-and-run collision that left a 71-year-old bicyclist seriously injured in San Marcos, authorities are offering a reward in hopes a tipster will step forward.
About 8 p.m. April 1, a passerby found the injured cyclist on the eastside of Woodland Parkway just north of Fulton Drive, sheriff’s officials said. Investigators believe he was headed north on Woodland when he was struck by a car also headed north.
The victim sustained a traumatic brain injury, the department said. Paramedics raced him to a hospital, where he was placed on life support.
Sgt. Charles Morreale said Thursday that the victim’s condition has since improved enough to be removed from life support but faces a long recovery.
