On February 5, the Goodrich s two-year-old daughter Charli, suffered a collapsed lung which prompted an emergency helicopter flight from Kingaroy Hospital to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH). Charli s mum Letisha Goodrich said in the week leading up to the hospital trip, there were no major warning signs and Charli was given the all clear after multiple visits to the doctor. Charli s health continued to deteriorate on the first night at SCUH and we learned she also had respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and pneumonia, Mrs Goodrich said.

The toddler had been to the hospital multiple times that week, getting the “all-clear” from doctors. With no major warning signs the tot’s health deteriorated quickly and Charli was flown from Kingaroy Hospital to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital. Mum Letisha Goodrich said Charli’s health continued to deteriorate on her first night in hospital. “We learned she also had respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and pneumonia,” Mrs Goodrich said. Charli was put on life-support as her body started “shutting down”.

We thought she would make an earlier appearance. It had a huge impact on Mrs Bryan, her husband Jason and their two other children, Mia, 11 and Damien, 3, after she was told she couldn t be too far away from the hospital. I thought I had to be confined to hospital grounds at first, but soon came to learn that I had the option to stay at Wishlist House or Reed House which is next to Nambour Hospital, she said. The 34-year-old chose Reed House as her home away from home. Being pregnant, I didn t want to walk or drive around a lot after my waters broke, so I felt staying at Reed House was a better option for me as they have amazing volunteers that would drive me to my hospital appointments when needed.
