Wiscasset’s Help Yourself Shelf Food Pantry (HYS) is happy to report it is the recipient of the funds raised through Shaw’s bags for a cause program for the May. A dollar for each bag bought at Wiscasset Shaw’s will go toward buying supplies for the pantry. Wiscasset Shaw’s has been a longtime supporter of the Pantry’s mission, and the pantry is truly grateful. Please consider helping the HYS at the checkout by buying and using the special reusable bags.

Bottle redemptions have helped American Legion Post 54 of Wiscasset fix a sewer line, Post Cmdr. William Cossette Jr. said on the lawn of the Post’s hall at 523 Bath Road Thursday, April 22.
Cossette, First Vice Cmdr. John Kennedy and Adjutant Cliff Hendricks were around the dug hole as they finished the two-day job. Asked if the unearthing was easier after recent warm weather, Cossette smiled and said, “When you’re working with a shovel, nothing is easy.”
