In the wake of Winter Storm Bailey, an uplifting story has dug itself out of the Brass City, as a number of local area teens worked alongside Waterbury s finest to help those in need.
According to the Waterbury Police Department, Winter Storm Bailey, which dumped anywhere between 9 to 16 inches of snow on various cities and towns across Connecticut this week, was no match for snow removal crew affectionately referred to as the Waterbury Police Athletic League s Snow Brigade.
After receiving over 100 requests from residents who were unable to dig themselves out in one way or another, the PAL Snow Brigade, which, this time around, was comprised of 16 young adults and a number of Watebury police officers, masked-up and hit the streets of the Brass City, clearing sidewalks and driveways alike in the name of doing a whole lot of good during the 2020 Holiday Season.

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) - Winter Storm Bailey continues to wind down after dumping a foot of snow on some parts of the state.
Flakes started flying in Fairfield County around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Snow continued on, reaching central parts of the state by 7 p.m., which led to statewide snow cover by 8 p.m. Road conditions then deteriorated.
By Thursday morning, Winter Storm Bailey dumped anywhere between 10 and 15 inches of snow across most of the state. Southeastern Connecticut saw 4 to 8 inches.
Snow became heavy at times, and even came down at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour at some points.
AAA warns that roadside service during storm will be difficult due to pandemic
VERNON, CT (WFSB) If drivers get stuck out on the road during Winter Storm Bailey, getting help may be tricky.
AAA said it is getting ready for a spike in calls this week and they want people to be prepared.
It said folks need a few additional items in their cars this year to add to their emergency kit. Those include hand sanitizer, wipes, and masks.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it warned that roadside rescues were going to be a bit more complicated.
“My boss allowed me to switch days around so that way I don’t have to worry about driving,” said Justine Dubois.
