More than 2,000 Special Olympics athletes from over 100 countries will compete in seven sports, and will be supported by 3,000 volunteers. Kazan 2022 Special Olympics World Winter Games organisers mark one year to go

Friday, 22 January 2021 With the 2022 Special Olympics World Winter Games now only one year away, organisers in Kazan and Special Olympics executives have expressed their support for the upcoming competition. The Games are due to run from January 22 to 28 next year in Russia. More than 2,000 athletes from 108 countries are due to compete in seven sports at the event. These sports are Alpine skiing, snowboarding, floorball, cross-country skiing, figure skating, short track speed skating and snowshoeing.  An estimated 3,000 volunteers will support the athletes. Special Olympics is proud to host World Winter Games 2022 in Kazan in Russia, said Special Olympics chief executive Mary Davis.
