Reporter esmerelda has cuts and bruises after a car knocked her out of her wheelchair this morning, leaving her in the street. This is whats left of her wheelchair now. Her dad says it cost about 20 20,000. The College Sophomore has spina bifida and needs it to get to school. It was, like, very important. Like, i basically, that chair meant everything to me because without it, i wouldnt get anywhere. I just cant understand how somebody who calls themselves human beings would do Something Like that. Reporter her dad, jeremiah, called wusa9 to see if we could help get the word out to get the drivers off the streets. He showed us this piece he says is from the drivers car. He says he wondered why police didnt take the time to do that. Thats her blood, right there. And thats what puzzled me that the police wouldnt treat this as a crime scene. They were in a rush. Well. The hour by hour warming for the day ahead. Aaron . Traffic moving in both directions on the George Washington parkway. A small section near windy run is still closed. Yesterday they had to shut down 23 and spout run parkway. They finished fixing a big sinkhole last night. Lets go to melissa mollet. Happy to see that is almost out of the way. Something else to be aware of this morning in bethesda. East west highway had a single car crash into a pole here. Traffic slowing. Again, its move. So thats good of course. 66 and 95. 66 right here heading into town. 36 Miles Per Hour through manassas. Virginia, 95, slowest spot again will be dale city. A little bit of volume in the 6 00 hour. Otherwise rolling along nicely all across town. Well see you then, melissa. Thank you. Later this morning, the rights of pregnant women in the workplace will be in focus at the nations highest court. Administration is now saying that they will be done tonight. Too much of a hassle. Reporter how has it been . For thousands of drivers getting into the city, a big time bottleneck. Tough enough with the rain and the closure ofhe southbound lanes of the gw parkway. Reporter and there is more likely to come. I dont know where to go and my gps is acting up. Reporter the sinkhole opened up the pavement in this southbound lane just the other side of the bridge over windy run in arlington. Road crews closed all the inbound lanes starting at 123 and then pushed cars even farther back to the beltway. Its very unfortunate. It points out how important the gw parkway is as a commuter route into the district. Reporter northbound is open. And the president at one point breezed right past the sinkhole heading for bethesda. But southbound will stay closed until crews can fill the hole. Were hopeful that its going to be done by the morning, but Mother Nature has to cooperate. Reporter the hole doesnt
