we had some of the strongest winds here so far. good evening, once again, i am stephanie ruhle. we are continuing live coverage of hurricane in, the category four storm made landfall on florida s west coast this afternoon, and it is still battering the state with heavy rain and hurricane-force winds. right now, more than 2 million homes and businesses in the state of florida are without power. let s get right to nbc meteorologist michelle grossman for the latest. michelle, i know you just got the 11 pm update for the national hurricane center. what have you learned? i will look at it with you, because it s right at the presses. we re still looking at a strong storm. we re looking at heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and we will look at what we are seeing in terms of wednesday, because we are holding on to the strength. let s hold back for a second because you saw wind speeds up to 135 miles per hour. this was a historical storm, if it is the big historical, catastrophic. we ll
Was watching windows cars got washed away. if the gulf of mexico and naples beach is in front of you and behind you is where the cars were, where are they now? where did they go? is there a junk yard now half a mile down? it s hard to actually see, but they all got pushed to the end of the road here. there was a high point there where they could reach the ground, so they got pushed. a few hours ago, a truck came in, where the wooden started pulling some of it out of the way. they have all been moved. it s only because it s dark, you can see. it looks like a junkie, aren t they were all flocking up and down, banging into each other. i will tell you, stephanie, me in my crew, we rent cars only travel. our cars are on the other side of the building. we definitely know one of them is not there. i m not been around to see four minus, but if this happened over here, it was a mirror image on the other side of the building. i will go looking for my car in the morning. then this takes me to
