I live across one of the fieldnotes denoting the location of what became known as delaware village. I believe it was 400 square miles southwest of the state, which included springfield. The city sold 48 of the acres to to get ah money courthouse. These two acres that remain were the town square. They built the courthouse in the center, and i became the side of the fact became the side of the county seat. Thats how things started here in 1835. It all came about because of what we are going to go by now, and Historical Marker in the corner of the building on water street. The reason its called water is because this was the intersection of several native american triangles. All of the low area we are driving through was several whichof spring fed water, attracted lots of wild game, afforded people water to drink and so on.
