A natural-gas leak forced a closure of part of a major Poway thoroughfare Friday along with evacuations of homes and businesses along more than a half-dozen adjacent streets.
While awaiting repairs by San Diego Gas & Electric, authorities blocked off a stretch of Pomerado Road and cleared people out of residential and commercial properties on several adjacent and nearby streets.

TOMS RIVER - The township s oldest fire company will celebrate its 125th anniversary Saturday with a downtown parade and street festival.
Toms River Fire Co. 1 was organized on Jan. 6, 1896, following a fatal fire that happened during Christmas week in 1895.
The 125th anniversary celebration kicks off at 10 a.m. with a parade that starts on Hooper Avenue in front of Toms River High School South, proceeds south to Water Street, and then onto Robbins Street where it will end in front of the firehouse.
Parade registration will be held at 9 a.m. on Hadley Avenue and is open to all.

The fun happens Saturday, June 12th. The Parade begins at 10 am and will finish with a fun block party on Robbins Street in Downtown Toms River between Washington Street and Wilsey Way from 10 am to 5 pm. The block party will feature BBQ-style food, adult & child beverages, 125th memorabilia for sale, live music, craft vendors, emergency services display tables, and more.
