TOMS RIVER - The township s oldest fire company will celebrate its 125th anniversary Saturday with a downtown parade and street festival.
Toms River Fire Co. 1 was organized on Jan. 6, 1896, following a fatal fire that happened during Christmas week in 1895.
The 125th anniversary celebration kicks off at 10 a.m. with a parade that starts on Hooper Avenue in front of Toms River High School South, proceeds south to Water Street, and then onto Robbins Street where it will end in front of the firehouse.
Parade registration will be held at 9 a.m. on Hadley Avenue and is open to all.
