The opening of a new production site and HQ in Dortmund is expected to serve as a template for more environmental manufacturing across the company’s estates
Germany-based pump manufacturer Wilo Group has opened a new ‘climate neutral’ manufacturing site and headquarters in Dortmund as part of a focus on sustainable manufacturing.
The company’s Wilopark site is designed to cut energy consumption by around 40 per cent, while CO2 emissions are also set to fall by 3,500 tonnes a year. This is equivalent to levels of the gas absorbed by 280,000 trees, according to the manufacturer.
The new site, which was opened with a digital launch event attended by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, represents a €300m (£258m) investment into more sustainable production by the manufacturer.
