“You know, the three of them were sleeping in one room… it was a strange sound that one of the brothers heard and decided to open the door to find out what was happening. They started shooting into the air and by then, they already held the sisters,” he said.
A resident of the area, who preferred anonymity, said the incident happened around 9:00 am while the victims were on their way in a vehicle to harvest yam at the farm.
He said the kidnappers, armed to teeth suddenly appeared from the bush and flagged down the vehicle at gunpoint.
“It was even one of the brothers who was on his way to the neighbouring Tazenyi village that saw the vehicle by the road side with empty sacks and basins inside the vehicle that rushed back home to raise an alarm,” he said.
He said the family had mobilized to the scene to tow the vehicle back to the community, even as he said the family was yet to establish contact with the kidnappers.
