Redwood Living project, Turtle Bay Development progressing in Stark County

Apartments and commercial buildings are in the future for what a few years ago was farmland southeast of the intersection of Mount Pleasant Street and Pittsburg Avenue NW. Crews are moving dirt to prepare a 31-acre tract in Plain Township for single story apartments owned by Redwood Living, based in Independence. More commercial development is planned west of the apartment project. The Stark County Regional Planning Commission gave condition approval for a 12,000-square-foot commercial building on land in Jackson Township owned by Turtle Bay Development. Both projects have been in the works for years. Redwood Living gained approval on the necessary zoning for the residential project in July 2019. The project calls for 177 two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments. About 22% of the the 31-acre site would remain as green space.
