The event was created to share scholarship and insights into the life and times of Martha Washington and is made possible through a generous grant from the Richard S Reynolds foundation of richmond, virginia. Tonights Exciting Program celebrates the publication of an important new book, the papers of Martha Washington, one many years in the making actually part and related to a much bigger project, the papers of george at the university of virginia and sponsored by the Mount Vernon Ladies Association. Since 1968, the project began with the ambitious aim of publishing all of George Washingtons correspondence, but its since expanded to include other members of his family, allowing us to know so much more about the p

Last year hoosier created 47,500 new privatesector jobs and maintain our aaa Credit Rating one of the few states in the union to do that. [applause] in november, 01 out of eight jobs created in the United States of america was created by business is right here in indiana. That is an extraordinary accomplishment for our people. [applause] unemployment was 8. 6 percent unemployment when i stood here last year. At 7. 3 percent today unemployment is at a fiveyear low. Since 2009, indiana has the fifth best is private sector job growth in the United States of america. Indiana is on the move because of the people of indiana. [applause] lennys say most encouraging , indianas fourth 38th graders the second best improvement in america in math and reading reading scores and reading proficiency is at an alltime high. That is an accomplishment we can all be proud of. [applause] we have made progress in jobs and schools
And i weather uses technology for Greater Transparency and accountability for taxpayers. Now is the time now is not the time to shy away from challenges and opportunities. Nows the time to embrace them, to be bold, its a move by 04 word and to increase competitiveness of our state and its people today and for the years to come.
