There’s some good news for renters in St. Petersburg. The St. Petersburg City Council approved an ordinance Thursday that requires landlords to tell tenants in advance if they plan to raise the rent.
St. Petersburg City Council members voted unanimously to approve a new tenant protection ordinance to force landlords to give more notice of price increase.
St. Pete leaders are investing another nearly $4 million towards affordable housing. $1.4 million dollars will go towards fixes at an existing affordable housing complex.
A tenants rights’ advocate argues that landlords have wrongly been granted the high ground in the debate. A developer says rent control regulations will stifle exactly what pro-tenant supporters say they want: more housing.
