Traditionally we have always known that men drink more than women do but whats been happening recently is men have been declining a been declining a little bit in risky drinking and women are not at all. Patriotism and Popular Culture in the new United States. On june 19th of 1812, James Madison made public announcement of the first war ever to be declared in the history of the United States. He said, quote, i. E. Exhort all the good people of the United States. As they love their country, as they feel wrong that they exert themselves. Madisons call made clear that the expectation of showing love of country required giving support to the war. At a moment of national crisis, patriotism was needed. He sought to justify the conflict to the population at large and motivate the country to support the war. The stakes were high because although a majority in congress voted in favor of declaring the war not one Single Member of the Federalist Party voted in support of the war. The ticket very skeptical view of the war, far more so than did southern and western members of the Democratic Republican Party that madison was leading. Another. I would like to join clinton and saying that we no longer use Richard Nixons marriage against him. People can disagree with his policy, they can disagree with his politicking and they can disagree with the way that he used or abused power in the white house. But leave his marriage alone. It was one of the great accomplishments of his life. And i think today we should celebrate the quality is within that marriage. The loyalties. The persistence. The sense of adventure and curiosity and high purpose. As well as the willingness to forgive each other and to move through dark periods. The nixons always said that when they have difficult times, rather than slightly moved apart for a while and then they came back together. So lets celebrate these qualities. Finally i just want to say in closing that the nixon marriage, strength and weaknesses, reinventing itself in crisis after crisis in jordan public life for half a century.
