The Stark County Sheriff’s Department responded to numerous calls for service over the past week, and these are just a few highlights of the incidents that occurred.
DICKINSON The courtroom was hushed as Southwest Judicial District Judge William Herauf read the sentence for the defendant, Demetris Shaquille Haney, 28. Haney was sentenced to five years in prison, with a minimum of two years to be served. He will receive credit for the approximately one year of time served since his arrest for his involvement in a shooting that took place near the Paragon Bowling Alley in Dickinson on New Year's Day 2022.
DICKINSON In a move that bucked recent precedence, vice-chairman of the board Bernie Marsh did not move into the chairman position during the Stark County Commission meeting on Dec. 6.
A southwest North Dakota woman has been arrested for her alleged involvement in stealing pain medication from a nursing home in Hettinger, N.D. Adams County Sheriff Jordan Fisher announced that his department launched an investigation into the matter, and has requested the assistance of the North Dakota BCI, federal DEA and ND Board of Health.
