"A formal announcement about the candidates would be made after January 16 when the party's parliamentary board approves the list," a senior party functionary said.
The legislative assembly elections in the coastal state of Goa are due to be held on 14 February. Last time, the ruling BJP won 13 seats, while Congress won 17. Despite winning more seats Congress couldn t form a government as the BJP managed to form an alliance with the Goa Forward Party and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party.
Goa Cabinet is likely to get an extension after ten Congress MLAs in the state joined the BJP. According to sources, MLAs Chandrakant Kavlekar, Michael Lobo, Babush Monserrate, and Philip Neri Rodrigues are likely to be given ministerial berths. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is in Delhi to attend a meeting and will reach Goa by Saturday morning. The oath-taking ceremony will take place on Saturday, sources said.
