On this date in Texas Rangers history, the Rangers won their fourth game in a row, all of which were by shutout.
The Rangers were trying to eke out a winning month when the Boston Red Sox came to Arlington Stadium for a three-game series. The Red Sox left town without scoring a single run.
Leading up to April 30, the Rangers beat the Red Sox, 10-0, on April 27; 9-0, on April 28; and 5-0, on April 29.

BOSTON The White Sox placed right-hander Lance Lynn on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to April 17) on Sunday with a strained right trapezius.
Lynn is expected to likely miss one start.
Lynn, 33, is 1-1 with a 0.92 ERA including a complete game shutout, 27 strikeouts and a 0.92 WHIP in three starts this season. He started feeling discomfort during his last start against the Indians on Thursday afternoon at Guaranteed Rate Field, when he threw six innings and 93 pitches.
The Sox made the announcement between games of their split doubleheader with the Red Sox Sunday at Fenway Park.
The White Sox defeated the Red Sox 3-2 and announced that Michael Kopech would start in Game 2, although probably limited to three innings in the seven-inning game.
Mercedes had said this week he couldn’t wait for the fans to ‘‘meet the Yerminator.’’ ‘‘They love me right now,’’ he said after his latest performance. Mercedes’ homer came after Jose Abreu, responding to chants of ‘‘M-V-P,’’ lined a double with two outs and Moncada homered. Mercedes’ blast, his second of the season, added another sensational layer to his unthinkable start to the season. Only homers by Joe Borchard (504 feet) on Aug. 30, 2004, against the Phillies and Frank Thomas (495 feet) on July 23, 2002, against the Twins traveled farther on the Sox’ list of longest blasts at the ballpark. And then Lynn found a way to upstage Mercedes. He struck out Whit Merrifield, Andrew Benintendi and Carlos Santana in order in the first on his way to the second shutout and fourth complete game of his career.

On this date in Texas Rangers history, the Rangers played one-game sets to open the season six years apart.
The date, April 7, featured the Rangers playing a one-game home series against the Chicago White Sox in 1973. Six years later, on the same date, the Rangers again played a one-game set, this time on the road at Detroit.
In 1973, the Rangers were starting their second season at their new home at Arlington Stadium. The Rangers had a new manager in Whitey Herzog, and the Rangers opened the season with future pitching coach Dick Bosman on the hill for Opening Day.
