While this Week That Was gave us the All-Star Game and the All-Star break, it was still a rather robust news week in Major League Baseball. On Saturday, the White Sox rewarded a successful first half for righty pitcher Lance Lynn by offering him a two-year, $38-million contract extension, which includes a club option for the 2024 season.
Chicago White Sox s Lance Lynn activated from 10-day injured list
The Chicago White Sox have activated right-hander Lance Lynn from the 10-day injured list to start Saturday s game against the Cleveland Indians.
Lynn missed nearly two weeks after being placed on the IL with a strained right trapezius April 18. The 33-year-old is 1-1 with an 0.92 ERA this season, his first with the White Sox after being traded by the Texas Rangers in December.
His streak of 18⅔ innings without allowing an earned run to start the season was the longest by a White Sox starter since 1976, when Wilbur Wood had a 21-inning streak to start the season, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

The Rangers were trying to eke out a winning month when the Boston Red Sox came to Arlington Stadium for a three-game series. The Red Sox left town without scoring a single run.
Leading up to April 30, the Rangers beat the Red Sox, 10-0, on April 27; 9-0, on April 28; and 5-0, on April 29.
Doc Medich threw a complete-game eight-hitter for the Rangers on April 27, walking just one batter. Designated hitter Al Oliver had three hits, while third baseman Buddy Bell drove in three runs.

BOSTON The White Sox placed right-hander Lance Lynn on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to April 17) on Sunday with a strained right trapezius.
Lynn is expected to likely miss one start.
Lynn, 33, is 1-1 with a 0.92 ERA including a complete game shutout, 27 strikeouts and a 0.92 WHIP in three starts this season. He started feeling discomfort during his last start against the Indians on Thursday afternoon at Guaranteed Rate Field, when he threw six innings and 93 pitches.
The Sox made the announcement between games of their split doubleheader with the Red Sox Sunday at Fenway Park.
The White Sox defeated the Red Sox 3-2 and announced that Michael Kopech would start in Game 2, although probably limited to three innings in the seven-inning game.
