BASINGSTOKE will be getting a new vaccination centre, the area s Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has confirmed. Jameson House in Chineham will be joining Hampshire Court Hotel, Basingstoke Fire station, and other sites to help deliver the coronavirus vaccine to more residents. However, when the Gazette asked if it would be replacing the hotel centre - which recently celebrated delivering its 100,00th dose - when hotels can reopen on May 17, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Partnership of CCGs said the site would remain as a vaccination hub for the foreseeable future . Dr Tim Cooper, GP and vaccination lead for North Hampshire said: “As the vaccine roll out progresses, it is important that we maintain the ability to increase vaccination delivery to our local population.

The Hampshire Court Hotel has been operating as a Covid vaccination centre since December 16. However, the Gazette understands that it has been unable to offer appointments on various days this last week because of a shortage in supply of vaccines. The hotel has been used alongside Basingstoke Fire Station to administer Covid vaccines. It is not known if the fire station has also had to close on certain days because of supply issues. The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Partnership of Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) has been asked for further information. Last week, England’s deputy chief medical officer professor Jonathan Van-Tam explained to Sky News that there are “supply fluctuations” with the vaccine, saying: “These are new vaccines and by and large the manufacturers have never made them or anything like them before.”
