I had a little fun last night trolling the RWNJs in my life, with comments along the lines of Heath Mayo’s tweet. “Remember? Remember all the Fox folks and GQP officials who tried to get you to believe Uncle Joe couldn’t string two sentences together?” Wink wink nudge nudge.
None of them, of course, could respond with a “yeah…good point…I’ll have to watch that in the future”.
Nope. Couldn’t possibly LEARN from this experience (or the ‘Biden meat ban’, or the ‘Kamala’s book for every immigrant kid’ or or or). Only thing worse than suckers are willing suckers.

The 74-year-old actress stole the show during an otherwise staid 93rd Annual Academy Awards during a between-awards segment featuring actor Lil Rey Howery and Questlove where Howery quizzed Oscars attendees on a bit of movie music trivia. With a little help from Questlove s emceeing skills, Howery asked Best Actress nominee Close about whether or not she recognized the 1988 track Da Butt by the Washington D.C.-based go-go band E.U. (Experience Unlimited). Wait a second! I know this! That s Da Butt! said Close after Howery asked if she recognized the cult favorite dance track. It seems only fitting that the star of “Hillbilly Elegy” the butt of the 2021 awards cycle would perform “Da Butt” dance during the Oscars telecast.
While playing a game of “name that song” during an unexpected break in Sunday night’s proceedings, actor Lil Rel Howery turned the spotlight on screen icon Glenn Close, who floored the crowd and the internet with her bootylicious dance moves.
The Los Angeles Times has confirmed that Close’s twerk-tastic performance was part of a scripted bit designed for laughs. It worked, as evidenced by Twitter users who promptly lost their minds.
“I did not have Glenn close doing da butt on my Oscar bingo card but here we are,” tweeted author Roxane Gay.
As I continue to ask myself when I’ll be able to greet the pizza delivery person without a facemask, I can’t help but reflect on how much has happened over the past year and some change. The beginning of 2020 had a lot riding on it, being a new decade and all, and a lot of us (myself included) believed that it would, quote, “be our time to shine.”

Having an entire pandemic to begin the new decade was not part of the plan. I still remember feeling an impending sense of dread about going to the grocery store. I remember the toilet paper shortage, the kneejerk reaction to take up baking, the hand sanitizer wars, and, on a more serious note, the overwhelming sense of loss and uncertainty.
