66-year-old displaced from his home of 40 years following Boxborough fire

Feb. 18 Mike Volpe was not at home when a four-alarm fire broke out at his condo complex on
Swanson Road last week. The 66 year-old
Boxborough resident was actually driving home from his job at
Audio Lab in
Feb. 10, as firefighters from several towns were attempting to control the flames.
Upon arriving at the turn to go home, Volpe was met by police officers who had closed down
Swanson Road. He told them he lived there and was allowed to pullover and walk down. Volpe knew there was a fire but didn t know it was his own building until he saw the chaos right out front.

Swanson Road in

Feb. 10 blaze has reportedly left over 30 people displaced, many of whom are now staying at the
Boxboro Regency Hotel.
As many of you know, this evening there was a fire in
Boxborough on
Swanson Road. I m glad to say it looks like everyone from the fire in
Boxborough is okay. There were 24 units in the building, and many of the families are now staying at the Boxborough Regency. The

Pembroke s infection rate is declining. Our case data is trending down, which is great news, she said. We did surge after the holidays. Unfortunately, people gathered, and I understand why they do that, but we saw a case rise as a result of that.
Tuesday, February 2: Concord Public Schools, CCHS, and Ripley will be closed. The White Pond Public Forum has been postponed until Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. due to the storm and the possibility of power outages. According to Fire Chief Tom Judge, the town's lone emergency shelter, the Harvey Wheeler Community Center, will be available if needed.
