know there s more information coming from snowden, the question is did he actually do that, and if he did, is he going to leak that. that was the subject of this hearing, how did he get to this position to have that access. one more poll quickly, kirsten, number three, congress should continue to investigate. irs, 78%. doj, 76%. benghazi, 73%. yeah. that explains the president s low poll numbers right there. it is just a piling on of one thing after another and i think people are getting really frustrated. next up, is turkey getting its own arab spring. test test test test
it, don t know enough about it, or are just talking about it the wrong way. many parts of this story, the more we learn about claims snowden made in the original interview and discussions he had with folks at the guardian and the washington post, they aren t holding up under additional scrutiny. and this idea as he says there that he had the authority to do that is i think patently false, the question is whether he had the capability. authority like that s an important distinction, i would argue. true. i don t think he necessarily had the capabilities, and if he did, it would be because of the system administrator. these things internally at the nsa, if you access a program, go somewhere you re not authorized to go, it will send up a flag. if you try to get into a program that you have no access to, it will send a flag and alarm. the question is whether as a system administrator, he was able to disable those and see this more broadly. one of the things i think people are
well, first of all, those capitol january norse january, to will not get as much overtime. taking less pay home does hurt. i think the real issue this is as the president said, a slow grind. reporter: gene sperling says the sequester could cost 3/4 of a million jobs. the white house is counting on public pressure from the pain of the sequester to push republicans to compromise on a deficit cutting bill. martha: a matter who blinks first, wepd dole? reporter: republicans agree to use tax revenue to reduce the deficit or the president agreeing to all cuts in government spend. mr. obama said that would put a burden on the poor and middle class. house speaker john boehner says he has already gotten his tax hike. i ve been here 22 years. i watched presidents from both parties, leaders from both parties, kick the can down the road and kick it down the road and kick the down the road. we re out of road to kick the can down. reporter: there is
a loss of some $30 million of wages. there are clearly going to be layoffs among the civil servants, 3200 there. some of those people are going to be lose their jobs. the rest are going to clearly be on furlough losing perhaps 20 hours of work or more. you are looking at the coast guard. take a look at the coast guard, just this cruise ship incident. the coast guard is going to lose 20% of its ability to do its job. i mean, what are we talking about here? this is terrible for the nation s security. it s terrible for the health of the people of this nation. you have a republican party that will not budge. these cuts are going to go into effect. the only solution is to hold the line. congresswoman kaptur, do you think the democrats have the intestinal fortitude? i know that you ve signed on to this letter of 107 of your colleagues that say no cuts in medicare, medicaid and social security. but this is going to be who blinks first. well, i think that the republicans, at least this par
