On Friday, March 4, two separate incidents of property damage by gun fire were reported in Becker County. In Ponsford, an Arvig employee reported a storage box containing cables was damaged by gunfire. Also, in Osage, a caller discovered six bullet holes in their mailbox. Law enforcement believes the incidents may be connected and are investigating the cases.

On Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 10:20 a.m., on the 40000 block of County Highway 34, Ogema, a 45-year-old man was found unresponsive at the scene of a possible drug overdose. CPR was administered, but was unsuccessful at reviving the man who was pronounced dead at the scene. Also, on Monday, Oct. 18 at 2:10 p.m., on the 200 block of Cherry Ridge Drive, Detroit Lakes, a 20-year-old pregnant woman said she was punched in the stomach by an 18-year-old man who left the scene before law enforcement arrived. The woman was transported to a nearby medical clinic for treatment. The case is under investigation.
On Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 8:08 p.m., on the 100 block of Second Street, Frazee, smoke was reported in a residential basement. A fire started behind the dryer and was extinguished by Frazee firefighters. Also, on Monday, Oct. 4 at 3:36 p.m., near County Road 21 and County Road 149, Detroit Lakes, a report of a vehicle “all over” the road. After being stopped, the driver fled on foot and was apprehended. A 30-year-old man is facing potential charges for DWI, trespassing and fleeing.
