While Toronto Police reported a meteoric rise in gun seizures in 2019, only a small portion of them were crime related.
Presented Tuesday to the Toronto Police Services Board, the 2019 statistical report report listed 5,083 firearm seizures by police last year, a 121% increase from the 2,300 reported in 2018.

Of those, only 693 seizures about 14% were crime related, a three-year low compared to 831 in 2018 and 722 in 2017.
