Meta-owned WhatsApp has said it banned more than 79 lakh accounts in India in the month of March, in compliance with the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

Mobile messaging platform WhastApp took action on about 5 per cent grievances it received in April, the company s India monthly report under IT rules said on Thursday.
The most popular messaging platform, which has nearly 500 million users in the country, received another record 4,720 complaint reports in March in the country.
