Chatham County is ahead of Georgia in rate of vaccinating for COVID

Chatham County is vaccinating its residents at more than one and a half times the statewide rate, according to data released Monday by the Georgia Department of Public Health. That data, on a new vaccine dashboard available at http://bit.ly/GAcovidvaccinestats shows that Georgia distributed 1.4 million doses of COVID vaccine as of Monday. That s 13,470 doses per 100,000 population statewide. In Chatham County, 62,461 doses have been distributed for a rate of 21,650 per 100,000 residents. The Georgia Department of Public Health launched the more detailed vaccine dashboard late Monday. As part of the transition to the new dashboard, there was a slight decrease in the reported number of vaccines administered as a result of removal of duplicate vaccination entries and data cleanup, according to a DPH press release.

Iowa has huge gaps in race, ethnicity data on COVID cases, vaccinations

Des Moines Register Iowa has massive gaps in the data it reports on the race and ethnicity of the people who have tested positive for the coronavirus and those who have received the vaccine, Iowa Department of Public Health data shows. For weeks state health department data, as reported on coronavirus.iowa.gov, has reported double-digit percentages of race and ethnicity data as unknown or pending investigation. Public health experts warn the lack of information creates a blind spot in understanding and addressing whom the pandemic is affecting and the equity of the response. As of noon Tuesday, 35% of positive cases were reported as an unknown race and, separately, 38% of people who have tested positive have their ethnicity recorded as pending investigation, the Iowa Department of Public Health coronavirus website shows.
