Multi-million Weymouth Gateway plans will bring investment and jobs

COUNCILLORS and local business figures have thrown their support behind the proposed retail park plans at the Weymouth Gateway site, which were today being decided by planning bosses. Various figures across the political spectrum have backed the plans ahead of today s planning committee, stating the development will create hundreds of jobs, boost the local economy and lead to further investment into Weymouth. Councillor Richard Nickinson, Conservative Group Leader on Weymouth Town Council, noted he did not understand why Weymouth Town Council opposed the plans and their views do not reflect the majority view of Weymouth residents.

Coronavirus cases reported in every area of Dorset amid national lockdown

In reveals that in the seven days up until Thursday, December 31, 2020 every area across Dorset - including both Dorset Council and Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole Council areas - have now reported a coronavirus cluster. Meanwhile, Bridport South and West Bay, which covers which covers the southern part of Bridport below East Road roundabout, Bothenhamton and West Bay, has only reported four active cases – the lowest in Dorset Council area and across the county.
