thousands of guns used in mexico s increasingly drug war came from right here in the united states. so reports the the washington post newspaper in today s editions. it reports several gun shops in the u.s. have sold weapons that police discovered during raids on mexican drug gangs. it s a year-long investigation. found more of those stores are located in texas than anywhere else. and another shop in california. reportedly sold 60 guns later recovered in mexico. trace gallagher is following this story from our west coast news hub this afternoon. trace, that california gun shop is in a city that s been in the news a lot lately. yeah, very well known, shep. bell california, known for pay scandal of city leaders where robert izzo was making some hundred thousand dollars a year. now local gun shop getting a closer look. it s called western firearms. dozens of guns used in crimes in mexico were traced back to that gun store. family-owned shop, been open for 40 years. here s a local repo
above $800,000 a year, and now 60 guns used in mexican violence have been traced back to a gun shop in bell called western firearms, open for 40 years and family owned. here is a local reporter confronting the owner. listen. we go by the procedure. by the procedures? yes. these are the procedures that all stores use, is that right? yes. can you tell me what that procedure is? no comment. the owner said they are monitored on a regular basis by the alcohol, tobacco, and firearms agency. shepard: the report indicates that 90 percent of the guns the mexican authorities trace, were traced to the united states. trace: that is true but without the context. it is misleading because of the tens of thousands of guns that flood into mexico from other countries, only a small portion of them are actually traceable.
