West Orange High School Air Force JROTC Cadet Austin Cowley Earns Scholarship to ROTC Cyber Academy

June 10, 2021 at 1:00 AM WEST ORANGE, NJ  West Orange High School AFJROTC (Air Force Junior Reserve Training Corps) Cadet Austin Cowley has been awarded a full scholarship to attend the second annual Air Force Junior ROTC Cyber Academy.   Cowley, a junior, was selected as one of only 100 cadets nationwide.  During this summer’s virtual Cyber Academy Cowley will build his skills under the supervision of instructors from Dakota State University. West Orange Resident Named Inaugural NYU Recipient of Anne O Hare McCormick Memorial Fund Scholarship

May 25, 2021 at 1:57 AM West Orange resident and TAPinto journalist, Deborah Balthazar, has been named the inaugural New York University (NYU) recipient of the Anne O’Hare McCormick Memorial Fund Scholarship.  Balthazar, 25, graduated cum laude from Caldwell University in 2017. She majored in biology and completed pre-med curriculum, but realized that science journalism is her true calling after receiving a summer fellowship at the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. She has been contributing to TAPinto West Orange for two years and is also a substitute science teacher. Balthazar will begin the program in September and pursue her master s degree in the Science, Health and Environmental Reporting Program (SHERP) at NYU.
