The Minnesota Legislature approved millions of new dollars to help boost businesses and redevelopment projects along several corridors in Minneapolis and St. Paul that saw the worst destruction.
CoreLogic’s map for North Minneapolis shows an enormous swath of red from Golden Valley Road to the south, spanning the length of seven neighborhoods: Near North, Willard-Hay, Jordan, Hawthorne, Folwell, McKinley, and Camden.
A corps of professionals, many of whom are African Americans with ties to north Minneapolis, plans to invest and build in racially and ethnically diverse neighborhoods that have long struggled with cycles of economic boom and bust.
North Minneapolis will soon lose one of its two neighborhood pharmacies. The news comes the same week the community learned it will also lose one of its few options for fresh groceries.
