Kolkata: West Bengal is gearing up for the all-important assembly elections towards the end of this month. The political parties are at loggerheads with each other and are campaigning all around the state in order to tell the public why they should be the ones in power.
The election fever has gripped the state, indeed. So much so, the iconic sweet shop in Kolkata Balaram Mallick Radharaman Mallick has given a twist to the famous Bengali sweet Sandesh .
BJP central election committee will meet on Thursday to finalise the party’s first list of candidates for the crucial West Bengal assembly election 2021. The CEC meeting will take place at the party headquarter in Delhi around 7 PM and it will be attended by PM Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP president JP Nadda, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, senior leader BL Santosh and others.

Kolkata: The game is afoot for actor Srabanti Chatterjee, who recently made her political debut in West Bengal politics by joining BJP. Chatterjee, who was once seen to be close to the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and had campaigned for several state government schemes said she joined BJP as she was inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and wanted people in the state to give a chance to the party in the forthcoming Assembly polls.
On sharing the same dias with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on different occasions, she said: I have never got any proposal from the TMC. But yes, I respect Didi (Mamata Banerjee). I have been on the same platform with her. I went with her many times during campaigns. When it comes to ideology, I support BJP. This is the party, I can work with. I like the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

New Delhi: Taking a dig at ruling Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday (March 3) asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party is not an outsider in West Bengal. In fact, he said, the origin of the BJP is associated with the state.
Addressing a public rally in West Bengal s Joypur, Gadkari invoked Jan Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee, who was born in the state. Mamata Ji says that we are outsiders. BJP was formed based on the ideology of Jan Sangh, whose founder and our inspiration Syama Prasad Mookerjee was born in West Bengal. How then are we outsiders? Gadkari was quoted as saying by ANI.
Yogi Adityanath at a rally in Malda promised that cow smuggling will be stopped within 24 hours if the Bharatiya Janata Party is voted to power in the poll-bound state. The UP CM also slammed his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee and said that the 'Jai Shri Ram' slogan is not allowed in the state, but people won't allow this to continue.
