Mike Jones, 43, a sheet metal worker who lives in Swaythling described the event as shocking. He told a Daily Echo reporter at the scene that he was not allowed to cross the police cordon and to return to his home. Meanwhile, his wife was ordered by police not to leave their home. Another resident, Gerry Muse added: “The police knocked my door and said that I had to leave the premises more or less straight away. All the neighbours were told to do that that live in this close. They said that it was probably a Second World War bomb.”

Woodmill Lane in Southampton closed following collision

By Tom Orde Crime and court reporter Police in Woodmill Lane, Southampton A KEY route into Southampton has been blocked off following a crash. Woodmill Lane could be closed for some time following a crash this afternoon.  Police have blocked the road in both directions between Wessex Lane and Manor Farm Road.  Engineers are reviewing damage to a property near Woodmill Bridge and emergency services have been working in the area. Meanwhile, motorists are being urged to find alternative routes.  It is unknown whether anyone has been injured at this point. The Daily Echo has contacted Hampshire Constabulary and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service for more information.

Aaron Spencer Blundall, aged 37, of Wessex Lane, Towcester, drug-driving; disqualified 12 months, fined £276,surcharge £34, costs £85. Theodore Sterling, aged 34, of Pembroke Road, Northampton, failed to comply with requirements of a community order; fined £40, costs £60. James Alexander Weir, aged 29, of Freehold Street, Northampton, possession of class B drug cannabis; discharged conditionally for six months,surcharge £22, costs £85.
