under trump. thank you for joining us on prime time, sir. thank you, chris. great to be here. first, an obvious question. why weren t you on the perfect phone call, did they box you out because you weren t on board with what they wanted? that phone call was listened to by a small number of people in washington, and a very small number of people in ukraine. no, i don t think that they had any idea of who would be on, or who would be listening, or what the implications would be. i don t think they knew what would happen on that call. that was an unusual call in many respects. we know there was pressure put on president zelensky. when you think about what that was about, you had texted gordon, it s crazy to ask for help with a political campaign,
the question is where. yeah. cnn law enforcement analyst, former chief, former commissioner charles ramsey, thanks so much. thank you. christi? victor, thank you so much. we want to get to some other news as well, a washington post report today saying president trump s advisers weren t on board with his threats to slap tariffs on mexico over immigration issues but apparently he was unmoved by their concerns. we ll dig a little deeper into that. and standing room only. at a border detention camp, live report for you here on some of these really disturbing images coming out of el paso, texas this morning. hey, who are you? oh, hey jeff, i m a car thief. what?! i m here to steal your car because, well, that s my job. what? what?? what?! there are plenty of investigators here at municipal building 2 behind me. also spread across areas connected to this shooter. and of course we ll bring you more as we get it from investigators. but now let s go back to atlanta and christi. all right, victor, thank you so much. i want to talk to you about the washington post report this morning that president trump s own advisers weren t on board with his plan to hit mexico with rising tariffs but the president went ahead anyway, vowing to slap mexico with these new tariffs until the country does something to help slow the flow of migrants. u.s. and mexican officials are meeting in washington next week to talk about this issue. the u.s. imported $346 billion in goods from mexico last year. just to put some perspective on this. and a higher tariff at the end of the day would mean that you, you and me, we are likely going to be paying for it through higher prices on several items. we re talking about things like auto parts, tvs, avo
that high level contacts with the nra might be the best means of neutral introduction to the next american president. this simple goodwill trip would have enormous diplomatic consequences for a future u.s. russia by lateral relationship to the world. certainly appears from that e-mail that paul ericsson and at least one member of the nra delegation had a shared understanding of what russia wanted out of this trip bringing these nra guys to moscow was political access in the united states. and they appeared to have been on board with that as they set off for the trip. well, now the nra s leadership is like oh, we definitely weren t on board with that. we tried to stop that. we didn t think people should do it. the nra trying to distance itself from this trip that happened to moscow in 2015 appears to be happening amidst a meltdown. we don t understand the significance of what might have happened on that trip and around
for them to do. losing those precise capabilities very quickly after they pull out. democratic senator from maryland, ben car done, he sits on the foreign relations committee. kate, good to be with you. president trump is taking a lot of heat for not visiting troops since becoming commander in chief. he now is. what s your reaction. we ll wait to see exactly what he said over there because there may be concern that he may have politicized his visit. thanking our troops for serving our country is something a president should do. you ve been highly critical along with a lot of people about trump s announcement to pull all u.s. troops out of syria. you re definitely not alone. you ve got even putting aside democrats and republicans, you ve got defense secretary mattis, secretary of state mike pompeo, and national security adviser john bolton who also weren t on board with that.
