MORE THAN 790,000 PEOPLE HAVE RECEIVED THEIR FIRST DOSE OF THE COVID-19 VACCINE OR ABOUT 60% OF THE STATE’S POPULATION. MORE THAN 351,000 ARE FULLY VACCINATED OR ROUGHLY 26%. EVERYONE AGE 16 OR OLDER IS ELIGIBLE TO GET VACCINATED THE OFFICIALS SAY MANY PEOPLE WHO ARE ELIGIBLE HAVE NOT YET COMMITTED TO GETTING VACCINATED. TO TO TRY TO CHANGE THAT, THE STATE HAS LAUNCHED PSA’S AND ELECTRONIC BILLBOARDS TO ENCOURAGE THOSE WHO MAY BE HESITANT TO DO SO. LOCAL HOSPITALS ARE ALSO JOINING THE MISSION. Chris Sununu says the mask mandate in New Hampshire will be ending soon, despite hospitals reporting a rise in younger patients. The statewide mask mandate is set to expire on Friday but it s unclear if the governor will renew it. During a virtual event with the Greater Portsmouth Chamber on Wednesday, Sununu cited New Hampshire as having one of the lowest death rates and fastest vaccine distributions in the nation. The mask mandate will be ending very, very, very, very soon, Sununu said. I can t tell you exactly what date it s going to be but I think the term in NH is wicked soon, so we re there. The governor said New Hampshire is on the tail end of the pandemic while health care workers say they re seeing some concerning trends, like a jump in cases at Wentworth-Douglas Hospital in Dover.
