Wenham Police are investigating two pride flags stolen this weekend and are asking the public for any information regarding the incident, according to an announcement on Monday.
Police were notified on Saturday of two stolen pride flags – one from the First Church in Wenham and the other from the Wenham Museum. The First Church in Wenham previously reported a stolen pride flag in late May, which police say is also still under investigation.
Pride flags at a church and a museum in Wenham have been stolen multiple times and vandalized in the most recent incidents, according to police.On Saturday, the Wenham Police Department received a call that the rainbow flag outside the First Church of Wenham had been cut down overnight.Police also received a call on Saturday that a progress flag at the Wenham Museum, which is across from the church on Main Street, had been torn down leaving the flag pole behind.A rainbow flag had been stolen from the First Church of Wenham at the end of May. A replacement rainbow flag is already up outside the church following the most recent theft. We did the same thing when it was taken in May, said the Rev. Judy Proctor. I m sad that there are people out there that feel the need to steal the flag. I don t even know what it represents to them. I m not sure what they re trying to accomplish. Police in Wenham, Massachusetts, are asking for the public’s help in investigating the recent theft of a rainbow flag from a local church.
On May 27, Wenham police said they received a call reporting the theft of a flag from the front of the First Church of Wenham on Arbor Street.

As a result of their investigation, police determined the flag had gone missing on or around May 19 after a resident had reported it to the church. The church has since replaced the missing flag with another rainbow flag.
