Wenham Police Department Investigating Theft of Rainbow Flag from Church – NECN

The flag reportedly went missing around May 19 By Kelly Garrity • NBC 7 San Diego Police in Wenham, Massachusetts, are asking for the public’s help in investigating the recent theft of a rainbow flag from a local church. On May 27, Wenham police said they received a call reporting the theft of a flag from the front of the First Church of Wenham on Arbor Street. As a result of their investigation, police determined the flag had gone missing on or around May 19 after a resident had reported it to the church. The church has since replaced the missing flag with another rainbow flag.

Recently, sightings have been reported on Pleasant Street. Wild turkeys can be dangerous and Wenham Police would like to encourage all residents to avoid interaction with them. Wenham Animal Control would like to share tips from the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife on how to respond when encountering a wild turkey: Do not feed turkeys. They will become tame but could possibly have angry or wild outbursts. Keep all bird feeder areas clean. Bird seed attracts turkeys and they will flock to the feeder if there is seed on the ground. Remove feeders in the spring as well as birds will be able to find plenty of natural food.

‘Don’t let them intimidate you’: Massachusetts police department gives residents tips for dealing with aggressive turkeys Updated Jan 29, 2021; A police department in Massachusetts wants residents to know that they should not be intimated by aggressive turkeys. “For aggressive turkeys, don’t let them intimidate you,” a tip from the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife said. “You should threaten or scare bold turkeys using a hose, a leashed dog or loud noises.” Residents in Wenham have been reporting sightings of turkeys on Pleasant Street. “Wild turkeys can be dangerous and Wenham Police would like to encourage all residents to avoid interaction with them,” the police department said in a statement.
