Reform UK exists to remind politicians that they forget us at their peril, read the campaign leaflet. A Torfaen man, born and bred , Mr Williams said: In my rush to reach out to the electorate I clearly made an error, but I am sure people will see the funny side of it #WhereIsTorfaen.” Reform UK was formerly known as The Brexit Party. Also running for Torfaen are:
Lyn Ackerman - Plaid Cymru - The Party of Wales
Veronica Kathleen German - Welsh Liberal Democrats
Thomas George Harrison - Ukip Scrap the Assembly/Senedd
Lynne Neagle - Labour
Ryan Thomas Williams - Gwlad - The Welsh Independence Party
Donna Cushing - Plaid Cymru I am Donna Cushing and I have been a resident in the Gwent area all my life. One of my first priorities as Commissioner would be to review the Continued Professional Development Training that is given to police officers and highlight any gaps there may be. I’m especially interested in disability training, physical, sensory or mental health, including dementia and individuals with learning disabilities. These can be hidden disabilities and I would like to ensure that front line staff have the understanding to recognise them and provide the necessary approach to dealing with individuals who have these disabilities.
Lyn Ackerman - Plaid Cymru - The Party of Wales If elected I would focus on increasing our NHS capabilities. Torfaen has welcomed the Grange and it is important to have the correct staffing available. Plaid Cymru has been calling to make sure that there would be an adequate number of staff since 2016. It became apparent during the last year that staff levels were struggling. It’s only Plaid Cymru with a concrete plan to locally train and retain staff, including 5,000 nurses and 1,000 extra doctors throughout Wales. The effects of Covid have been felt throughout Torfaen - not just in terms of our health, but also in our long-term job prospects.
Susan Boucher - Reform UK Welsh children once again find themselves at the bottom of educational attainment tables for the UK. Lockdowns have had a huge impact on our children’s education, particularly Labour’s policy of banning outdoor sports and keeping children out of class. Now that we have vaccines, new treatments and knowledge of who is at risk from Covid, we must use this information to manage the disease. A targeted protection strategy is the best way to ensure a workable policy that doesn’t inflict so much damage on our communities by shutting schools and businesses. We believe in cutting waste and reducing taxes.
AS TENS of thousands of people head to the polls in Conwy to cast their vote in the Senedd election, here are the coronavirus rules you need to know. Polling stations will open on Tuesday, May 6 for the sixth general election in Wales since the Welsh Government was formed in 1999, however this time round polling stations will look rather different. Stations will be open from 7am to 10pm and, if there is a queue, voters will still be able cast their vote as long as you joined it before 10pm. Due to the pandemic, there will be safety measures in place at polling stations. Social distancing measures will limit on how many people are allowed inside the polling station at each time and, when entering, voters will be expected to wear a face covering.
